I am TMA’s Corporate Relationship Manager. I started my journey in financial services with Commercial Union back in the late 70’s. I worked in one of their local offices at a time when it was said there was a CU office everywhere there was a Woolworth’s. In those days it was general insurance, buildings, contents and motor; we had rate tables to calculate premiums and we hand wrote endorsements!
I then transferred to the life & pensions team dealing with protection and pensions administration and then in 1989 I left to have my children a boy and a girl. When I returned from my career break in 1992 I moved into the mortgage team, then in 1996 around the time mortgage procuration fees were introduced I took on a development role working in the field with independent mortgage advisers, helping them to place their more complex mortgage cases and introducing new lenders and ancillary services. I’ve seen many changes in the mortgage industry and many lenders come and go. I have always worked in distribution with a large number of lenders and intermediaries and have seen many changes over the years from MCCB to FCA and not forgetting MMR and MCD!
In my spare time I am a volunteer with the Boys Brigade. We enjoy many activities during the year the highlight being a week at camp during the summer. I share a week away from home with around 70 other people, the young people ranging from 11 to 18 and my role here is one of 4 cooks on camp, this year we cooked 476 sausages, 544 rashers of bacon, 100kg of potatoes, and ate 340 bags of crisps and lots more!
